Abra has joined the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) as a Member, advancing from our role as Invited Expert. The membership grants us a stronger voice in shaping standards to improve the accessibility of apps.

Mobile Accessibility Task Force
Abra is a key contributor to the Mobile Accessibility Task Force (MATF), an initiative dedicated to the mobile accessibility space.
Objectives
The MATF focuses on:
Developing comprehensive resources for applying Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) across mobile environments.
Creating guidance for native mobile applications, mobile web applications, and hybrid apps with web components.
Ensuring mobile considerations are integrated in new accessibility guidelines and standards.
Participation
Jan Jaap de Groot joined as an Invited Expert in April 2022 and was appointed Facilitator in January 2024.
Under his leadership, the task force has regrouped and a significant amount of new experts have become active contributors.
Tanya van Workum joined in late 2024, contributing her expertise in app accessibility auditing.
Status
The MATF now has 39 participants representing developers, designers, testers, managers and researchers from around the globe. They're about to publish the First Public Working Draft of their new guidance.
