Abra celebrates new Appt website and handbook
In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), we are excited to share the new Appt website and the new Appt accessibility handbook. These resources make it easier to make apps accessible. Abra is proud to have sponsored and contributed to these projects.
New Appt website
Appt is the largest knowledge base for app accessibility. The website has been updated to make it faster and easier for everyone to use.
Improvements include:
Faster loading times.
Open-source content in Markdown format.
Open-source accessibility statistics in JSON format.
Edit button on each page to improve articles.
Search button to find what you need quickly.
New code samples for .NET MAUI
The content migration was carried out by Yurii Kozlov and Jan Jaap de Groot, team members of Abra.
New Appt accessibility handbook
Many people indicate that it is difficult to start with accessibility. The "Appt accessibility handbook" teaches the basics to make apps accessible. It summarizes disabilities, features, legislation, guidelines and has guidance for designers, developers and testers. Each section links to more detailed information on the Appt website.
The handbook was originally published in Dutch and has been downloaded thousands of times. In addition to Dutch, the new handbook is also available in English. It is written by Jan Jaap de Groot and Paul van Workum, the co-founders of Abra.
Let's make apps accessible
These two projects show our dedication to making apps accessible for everyone. By collaborating and sharing knowledge, we can pave the way for a future where apps are accessible to everyone.
